Eating Well In A Fifth Wheel

May 28th, 2010

Just because you’re camping doesn’t mean your belly has to suffer with trail mix, and nuts. Food on the road can be just as good or better than food that’s made at home. Below are a few simple recipes that anyone can make to please the whole family.

Brats and Beer Ingredients: * 6 to 8 Brats * 1 can beer * 1 onion, sliced Preparation: Using a pot, mix the ingredients and place on a stove or over a fire. After the mixture has come to a boil, remove the pot from the heat and allow the mixture to simmer for about 10 minutes. Remove the brats and either sear them on the grill or with a stick hold the brats above the fire. Brats can remain in the beer juice until they are ready to be eaten. Heat them before grilling.

Campfire Potatoes Ingredients: * 10 potatoes * 1 medium onion, thinly sliced * 1 green pepper, thinly sliced * 1 stick margarine * Seasoned salt * Pepper Preparation: Peel the skins off of the potatoes and slice. Also, slice the onions and peppers. Place the ingredients and slices of margarine into either a Grill Bag or aluminum foil. Add desired salt and pepper and seal carefully. Leave in fire about 30 minutes flipping halfway through. Check the tenderness of potatoes and enjoy.

Indian Fry Bread Ingredients: * 4 cups flour * 2 tbsp. baking powder * 1 tsp. salt * cup shortening (regular, not butter-flavored) * 1 cup warm water, approximately * Oil for deep frying (about 4-6 cups) Preparation: Using a mixing bowl, mix flour, baking powder and salt. Add slices of shortening and mix until the mixture looks like cornmeal. Add water but just a little at a time to ensure dough sticks together. Separate the mixture into 6 balls and cover with a dishtowel for 10 to 15 minutes. Add oil to your skillet and heat to 375 degrees. Using flour to prevent sticking, roll out each of the balls into salad plate sized circles. Place each dough circle into the hot oil, one at a time. Flip once and remove when the dough has become golden brown. Remove excess oil by using a paper towel.

* 3 Tbsp. Lime juice (prefer fresh, but can use bottled)
* 12 oz. Sour cream (Fat Free or Low Fat can be used)
* 2 Tbsp. Margarine
* 1 Tbsp. Garlic-minced
* 3 Tbsp. Tequila (optional)

Campfire Hobo Breakfast
Ingredients:
* 2 thin sliced onions
* 4 potatoes cut in small cubes
* 1 diced green pepper
* 8 fresh mushrooms thinly sliced
* 1-pound fresh sausage (uncooked) torn into small pieces
* 2 cups shredded cheddar
* 1 stick margarine
* Salt and pepper
* tsp. garlic salt
* tsp. Italian seasoning, dill or rosemary
In a bowl, whip together:
* 8 eggs
* cup milk
* Salt and pepper
* Sprinkling of the spices you used above
Preparation: Get a fire going until it’s burned down to hot coals for cooking. If you have a grate, put it on top of the campfire ring. Use folded up aluminum foil to contain the egg, sausage and cheese mixture (with mushrooms and peppers and spices). Try using a double layer of foil to make sure nothing leaks out. Put in margarine (cut into pieces). Fold the foil around the mixture from the top until close to the food. Place over fire or on the edge of the coals for about 45 minutes. Keep the heat even on the mixture at about a medium heat.

Locating An Inexpensive Recreational Vehicle

May 24th, 2010

Do you feel like finding that perfect recreational vehicle for sale is like finding that elusive fountain of youth? Do you feel that finding that perfect recreational vehicle is an idea so lofty that it can never be obtained? Actually, it doesn’t have to be this difficult. There are some helpful tips available that can help you find that elusive recreational vehicle for the price and terms that you desire. It can be as easy putting some butter on a slice of bread with the right knowledge.

If you’ve been out looking for an acceptable recreational vehicle for sale for very long, you will know that most of the RV’s you’ve looked at seem to be priced much higher than they are actually worth. This is typically done by most RV dealers in an attempt to give them some bargaining room if the prospective buyer has a trade-in or a nice down payment. It also gives the salesperson an opportunity to bargain with the buyer. If the salesperson is desperate for a sale, you will see the asking price drop rather quickly. However, if the salesperson has plenty of sales under their belt, it may be time to move on to another dealer.

A Negotiating Madman

Are you a negotiating madman? When you have found that perfect recreational vehicle for sale, you will want to become a negotiating madman. Be prepared to put on your poker face and always have the attitude that you can get up and walk out that door at anytime and it won’t bother you one bit. At least you’ll want to make the salesperson think that you will no matter how much you really want that new recreational vehicle for sale. Keep in mind that the salesperson may not be in a big hurry to drop the price if he really needs the extra commission. If that is the case, think about asking for other things other than a price drop if you can afford the asking price. Perhaps he can throw in an extended warranty or maybe some free maintenance and oil changes. Or even some added amenities such as a bigger tub, or a double door fridge. Don’t just concentrate on price. There are many other things the salesperson can throw in to make the price worthwhile.

Once you have negotiated a fair price for this recreational vehicle for sale, you might want to see if you can get a longer warranty or an extended maintenance contract thrown in. You still need to be prepared to walk out the door if you feel like you are not getting the best deal. Go by your gut feeling. Do you feel like you’ve gotten the best price? Is it at least 20% lower than the sticker price? If not, you’d be doing yourself a favor to sleep on it. This will also give you the opportunity of doing some online research to make absolutely sure you are getting the best deal. No matter what the salesperson claims, the deal will be as good as, or even better the next day. Do yourself a favor and sleep on it before purchasing that new recreational vehicle for sale.

There is plenty of information about RVs on the internet. For additional information take a look at this site on recreational vehicle for sale.

Class A RV Enthusiasts Change Routes Around State Parks

May 7th, 2010

Arizona is only one of several states enacting state park closures this year. State closures are the result of governments in debt looking for ways to cut spending. However, closures are forcing job losses and a loss in the economy to the towns that host the parks. Arizona is unique in that dialogue with the community has resulted in the temporary turning over of state parks to towns for caretaking.

Of the original list of closures, only four ended up closing. The rest will remain open under new care. Unfortunately other states are heading down the same road as Arizona, looking to ways to save money to pay off massive debts. Class A RV owners will have to find new towns to spend their money in instead of heading to states where they may find numerous closures.

Up in New York, 80 parks were sacrificed to help keep government spending down. Parks weren’t the only institutions to see cuts; hospitals and schools also had government aide cut. Governor David A Patterson insisted this was the only way to help recoup money for the debt that New York has found itself in. While cutting funding from every institution may make sense on paper, in reality, state parks bring in revenue and help keep employment rates up.

Across the country in California, Governor Schwarzenegger thought closing state parks would be an easy way to save some money. However, Californian’s love of the outdoors became apparent when protests were sparked across the state. One such protest had people finishing a 260-mile hike from Bakersfield to Sacramento. The goal is to preserve California’s future.

Millions of people head out to enjoy their state parks every year. All that visiting brings in tourism dollars to the tune of $255 million. Money from state parks goes to pay taxes and helps local economies.

Class A RV owners are a key target for state parks as their reputation for good living results in money given back to the communities they travel through. Cutting funding for state parks may be a mistake that can’t be corrected in the future.

Closing state parks may be shooting the states in the foot. There is still enough protected space out there to satisfy nature lovers. However, there’s nothing to say Class A RV enthusiasts won’t turn their loyalties to parks that remain open through financially good times and bad.

Exploring the beauty of this country is part of the RVing way of life. It’s a part of our heritage and in the end, parks – whether they are state or government owned – are the land of the people. Setting up entrance fees only helps ensure the park’s protection for future generations.

Fun Diesel Pusher Games

April 17th, 2010

If you’re at point A and you need to get you and your family to point B, Diesel Pushers are a great way to make the trip in luxury. But as anyone who has ever met a child knows, children get bored! After a while computer screens and movies lose their appeal so here are a few good old fashion road games to help you and the kids pass the time when you’re on the road.

The License Plate Game – There are 50 states in the U.S., that means 50 license plates to identify as you are driving. Count how many you see, the kids can keep their heads on swivels eagerly looking to be the first to find a new state plate. Bring a map and allow the kids to cross off or color the states where plates have been spotted. Children may also enjoy counting other diesel pushers on the road!

Card games – Card games never go out of style and hours of time can passed while looking to match fish in the classic “Go Fish” or trying to avoid the “Old Maid” or looking to throw down the high card in “War” and more. These games can be purchased as specific decks designed for the individual games or many of these games can simply be played with your basic deck of playing cards. Games like “Old Maid” and “Go Fish” are great for the car because players hold their cards and there in no need for a board and pieces that could easily be lost in the car.

Alphabet Games – There are many different kinds of approaches to the alphabet game. Some people enjoy simply keeping their eyes open to identify letters of the alphabet on billboards, road signs, license plates and business signs. Going through the alphabet one letter at a time, players are sure to have fun finding every letter of the alphabet as they are seen from the diesel pusher window. Another way to play the alphabet game is to select a category and take turns naming something from the category that starts with the every letter of the alphabet. For example if food was the category that was picked the first player may say Apple and the next player may say Broccoli and so on and so on until the end.

I Spy – who hasn’t shouted the phrase “I spy with my little eye…” at some point in their life? This fun guessing game is sure to get everybody involved and guessing. One player thinks of something and the other players attempt to determine what was picked by asking yes or no questions. “Is it round?” “Is it red?” “Is it alive?” Eventually enough clues are found and the answer is guessed; “Is it the moon?”

Moo Cow – Count the cows! This is fun and can also be educational as child practice their numbers. And as you drive your diesel pusher through certain areas of the U.S. your cow numbers with get pretty high!

If travelers grow tired of games or simply seek another form of entertainment, books are always a great way to pass the time. Whether a child chooses to read to themselves or to have a parent read to everybody, books are certainly a good time. Children and adults may also enjoy games like crossword puzzles, word searches or Suduko.

There are many roads in the United States and many ways to find entertainment while driving your diesel pusher on the roads. But no matter how you choose to pass the time, it is important that children are happy and satisfied.

Some Tips You Need To Know To Get Yourself Some Discount Tires

December 16th, 2009

With the costs of car maintenance and accessories constantly increasing, it is not a shock to discover lots of people today seeking discount tires. But you simply cannot pick up any tire with a discount. There are certain things that you need to take into consideration.

First of all, think about tire safety.

A discount tire does not inevitably have to equate to a worn-out tire. Tires that you purchase at a discount should be manufactured from quality materials and should be durable. You ought to search for tires from reliable brand names when you are trying to find a discount bargain.

Now let’s have a look at places that carry them.

Discounted tires can be located nearly everywhere. Businesses that sell tires will often promote their discount tires via advertising and will sometimes distribute a number of coupons for discounts to their fortunate clientele. If you are looking for discount tires, try the following:

Often times you will find them at local store outlets. Often times they offer seasonal discounts on their tires. The key is to keep watching for any sales that you can use to your advantage.

Retail stores and individuals alike may sell discounted tires through online page advertisements and auction sites. But at times it could be rather challenging when shopping at sites such as these. If the ad poster is not well-known as a tire retailer, you may not know that a scam artist is just attempting to defraud you. You should make certain that you have both knowledge and experience while shopping for discount tires at auction sites.

Shopping online can give you many advantages.

Shopping online is a very convenient option. All you need to do is complete a form stating your preferences for tires, make your purchase, and then await home delivery. You do not need to leave your home; you shop while sitting at your computer, make your purchase, and you’re done.

Stores which have been in business for a while have their reputation to support them and to maintain. You do not need to worry about being scammed if you make certain to shop at a good store. And you are even able to obtain satisfactory warranties or guarantees.

In addition to delivering your discount tire right to your doorstep, reputable stores can also give you advise on how to install your tires or suggest a good place to have them installed.

Now Kyle has written quite a bit more on cars and wheels, be sure to check out tires for sale cheap or cheap low profile tires.
