How To Get The Discount Out Of A Discount Car Rental

August 10th, 2010

Discount car rentals are so hard to come by, and in recent times, discount car rentals simply mean you pay less for something less, and lets face it, sometimes when you pay less for a car rental, you end up with something that looks more like a farmers truck than a car. Its hard to come up with a budget friendly rental, so how do you get a discount car rental these days? Well here are a few tips to boost the value of your money, car rental wise.

1.A good way to essentially, get a discount car rental is to, once you return the car, fill the tank with the cheapest no-name gas you could find, not for revenge or anything, but because car rental companies, require customers to fill the gas tank before returning it, and it you dont theyll fill it for you with the company pump but at a higher price, now we dont want that, so be sure to fill your tank before you return the car.

2.To get the discount off of discount car rental, make early reservations, some car rental companies give discounts or free upgrades for customers who reserve their cars early.

3.When youre planning to use your rental car for more than five days, or longer, ask the rental car company if you can get discount car rentals for a weekly rate, most companies offer discounts for the sixth and seventh day for weekly rentals.

4.Ask your travel agency if you could get discount car rentals if you acquire packages like fly-stay-drive or fly-drive. Most travel agencies as well as hotels offer these programs at a discounted price, whats good about this is that you get a discount and you shoot two to three birds with one stone.

5.When you go to a car rental company, ask them if you could get a discount car rental in exchange for your frequent flyer miles, this is good for those miles that are about to expire, so instead of throwing them away youd get one last use for them.

6.One way to get a discount car rental or maybe just the best deal for your money is to look for sites or rental car firms that accepts a pre-determined budget. This is when you indicate the money youre willing to spend for the car rental, most rental car companies will give you the program that has the biggest discount car rental and the best deal for you, of course it pays to know if the company has a history of fraud, in this day and age, you cant really trust people that much with your money, check out the car before you reserve.

7.Ask the rental company for discount car rentals when you frequently rent a car at their firm, theyre most likely to give discounts or free upgrades if you always rent with them.

8.Get discount car rentals by reserving your car through the internet. Most rental firms have internet only discounts that can save you a lot of money, look up the rental firm that has the greatest discount for the same value.

9.To get a discount car rental upgrade, try going to pick up your car just as the shop is opening, therell be a shortage in the economy cars, and youll probably get a free upgrade when they cant give you the car you reserved.

Making The Choice Of A Auto Hire Over The Taxi Or A Cab.

June 28th, 2010

Your choice of a Vehicle Hire may be a better idea than riding a bus or taking a cab for many reasons. While there a few instances that it would make better monetary sense to take the bus or a cab, this is only feasible when you do not have a long way to go or you do not have a lot of luggage with you.

Many times you may have ridden a bus for long trip. Many buses are equipped for long travels. However, you will have to ride a good many people and you may not know one of them. You will not have the freedom that you would have by driving alone.

One great reason to choose Car Hire over public transportation is if you have children riding along with you. In this case, you may want to rent a mini van so everyone riding can experience comfort for a long trip. With a mini van, you can have a lot of room for your baggage. You can also have amenities such as DVD screens for the children to have something to keep them occupied with.

When you are travelling with a small child, you are going to need a car seat. This is a law in most countries. The best way to go is through a rental car service because you can also get a car seat. This will keep you from having to lug along your own from home. You may not be able to use a car seat on a bus or other kind of public transportation.

Driving your own rental car means that you will be able to stop whenever you feel like it. You will need to make frequent stops if you have children with you. This is simply not going to happen while riding a bus to anywhere. Rest area stops are a necessity that can not wait with children and you do not want them to have to use one that is on a bus either.

You can have the pleasure of being able to ride in more comfort with a rental car or van. Many people that ride buses a long ways tend to end up with stiff backs and legs from sitting uncomfortably for long periods of time. With a car, you will able to stop and stretch when you feel the need to.

Most trips that you take are going to involve a lot of stopping to see the sights. What would be the point in going some place if you could not get pictures of the things on the way there? If you ride a bus, there are few stops for just sightseeing. Taking your own car will give the freedom to be able to stop any time you feel like it.

Your comfort means everything when you are traveling. This is especially true if you going a long distance and you have small children. Car hire is worth every dime you use for it when you are out there on the road for hours at a time.

Tips For Planning A 4WD Holiday

May 27th, 2010

It is important, for the sake of safety and preparedness to comprehensively plan a 4WD holiday. A thorough and detailed itinerary can provide essential information on what terrains and conditions may have to be crossed. Learning how best to manoeuvre your all terrain vehicle in a variety of situations and conditions keep you safe as well as optimizing fuel efficiency and preventing damage to your 4WD. An off road vacation is challenging and having a clear understanding of what may be encountered can make it a great adventure.

Plenty of time should be taken when planning a four wheel driving holiday, particularly if the destination requires travel in uninhabited and unfamiliar areas. Researching aspects of the terrain and conditions which an itinerary may cross can help with planning or organising the necessary equipment which may need to be packed, as well as give an idea of what problems may be encountered during the trip.

In order to be organized and equipped for any eventualities which may occur, a thorough itinerary, preferably using a topographic map, should be made. A topographic map will give an idea of the terrain which you may have to drive through, as well as any obstacles to avoid or places of interest you wish to see. Planning your itinerary will help you figure out how much time may be needed to actually reach a destination, as well as enjoy the journey.

The weight a four wheel drive vehicle carries can influence its manageability and fuel consumption. A well researched itinerary which takes into account weather and other conditions, as well as terrain, can assist in creating a well organized packing list for a four wheel drive trip. Knowing what equipment is required for a trip can reduce the amount of unnecessary items packed into a vehicle.

It is important to learn how to handle a four wheel vehicle in different terrains and conditions. Some driving schools offer training programs where the skills required for different terrains and conditions can be learnt by drivers. In order to drive safely and prevent vehicle damage, it is recommended that some kind of course or lessons be taken before a long off-road trip, especially if the driver is inexperienced.

Knowing how best to deal with any problems caused by difficult terrain or sudden weather conditions is a part of preparing for an four wheel drive trip. Understanding what may go wrong and how best to deal with problem situations will make drivers better able to deal with sudden eventualities. Providing a family or friend with your itinerary, organizing different communication or even GPS equipment, are all useful in keeping off-road holiday makers safe.

Taking a 4WD holiday is as much an adventure as a vacation. Taking a camping trip off-road into isolated parts of a country can be an unforgettable experience. Being organized, prepared and aware of all that may be encountered, whether it is weather or terrain, can make your holiday safe and problem free.

Go on your vacation with no worries when you have all the 4WD accessories you will need with you! Get everything you will need for your holiday including great winches fast and easy!

UK Minibus Rules And Regulations

January 18th, 2010

Introduction Minibuses can be hired for self drive or with a driver and are great for transporting a crowd of friends, family, or a sports team. They will normally seat between 9 and 16 passengers – not including the driver and they are always a great way of getting small groups of people from A to B. They often come in a range of levels – i.e. Standard, Luxury or even VIP.

If you had entitlement to drive cars before 1 January 1997 you can drive a minibus provided it has a maximum of 17 seats including the driver’s seat and is not being used for hire or reward. Your minibus entitlement will remain valid in the United Kingdom until your license is next renewed.

Meeting higher medical standards When your licence is renewed, the minibus entitlement can only be issued if you make a special application. This special application will mean meeting a new higher medical standard. Providing your minibus entitlement is renewed, at the age of 70, you will normally be granted a licence for a maximum of three years that will allow you to drive a minibus although NOT for hire or reward. If your minibus entitlement is not renewed, the entitlement will no longer appear on your licence.

Driving a minibus under the permit scheme In order to drive any minibus that has nine or more passenger seats for hire or reward you will normally need a passenger carrying vehicle (PCV) entitlement. There are some exceptions (see below). To obtain this will mean meeting much higher medical standards and take an additional driving test. However, if you drive a minibus for an organisation under the minibus or community bus permit scheme you will not need to have the higher PCV entitlements. Should your license does not include a D1 entitlement then you may still be permitted to drive a minibus under certain conditions.

Normally you will be allowed to drive a minibus with a maximum of 16 passengers providing: i) You are driving on behalf of a non commercial body for social purposes but not for hire or payment, unless operating under a permit; ii) You have possessed a car (category B) license for at least 2 years; iii) You are aged 21and over; iv) You are providing your service on a voluntary basis; v) if you are 70 years old and over, you are able to meet the health requirements for driving a vehicle (i.e. minibus) which comes within the D1 class; vi) The minibus maximum weight is not more than 3.5 tonnes excluding any specialist equipment for the carriage of disabled passengers. Minibuses up to 4.25 tonnes will be permitted in certain circumstances. vii) If you meet these requirements there are two further rules you must act in accordance with: you may not receive any payment you must not tow a trailer (of any size).

Any commercial companies operating in the UK MUST be licensed and registered by VOSA. Hire or reward means any payment in cash or kind made by or on behalf of the passengers that give them the right to be carried in a vehicle. This would also include courtesy transport from a sport centre if you are paying for a course for example

Save Money On Your Car Rental

November 9th, 2009

If you are planning a business trip or a family holiday, make sure to plan ahead to try and avoid the last minute hassles that usually unfold when travelling. When holiday plans are made in advance, generally the break away is more enjoyable. Using the internet, you can access information relevant to the local area that you are visiting. You can even search for the best suited accommodation and also tourist attractions that may appeal to you. Transportation is another important factor to consider and organise and car rental is one that is best arranged well in advance.

If you do not book a hire car from a car rental company before you travel, then you can search for information that may be on offer from companies that you may be able to access locally i.e., newspapers and telephone directories etc. An internet search will provide you with the quickest solution, as you can focus on a particular area in your search terms. Once you have compared the prices and the extra services that each agent may offer, you can make an informed decision. Australia has many car rental companies that are mainly categorized in two sections. They are either National Car Rental Companies for your convenience at the airports or Independent Local Operators usually situated close by.

Before booking a rental car make sure of exactly what you will receive once you have signed the contract. For example, most hire car agents within Australia provide you with standard extras that include 24 hour roadside assistance and an up to date street directory. If you are planning to do a large amount of traveling, ensure you will receive unlimited kms so you will not have to pay an extra fee per km. If Australian drivers wish to hire a car overseas, most countries will accept a valid Australian Drivers Licence. However you may need to apply for an International Drivers Licence.

Avis, Budget, Thrifty, Europcar and Hertz are considered to be national companies in Australia and have many locations throughout the country. To hire a car from one of the nationals, and generally with most of the local independent operators, drivers must supply a valid credit card for security purposes and a current drivers licence. The minimum age to rent a car is 25, If you are between the age of 21-25 you may still book a rental car, however, there may be extra surcharges and fees that may not appear in your online quote.

For your interest you may try and find a website that provides travellers with a service to compare rental car rates from a number of car hire agents. When you find such a site you will find booking a hire car quick and easy.

For a quick and easy booking process, make sure you explore through the internet and find a site that will compare great car hire rates. You will be happy that you where able to book a car rental without unnecessary hassle.
