Automotive Experts List Cool New Rides Under $18,000

August 31st, 2010

With the average price of a new vehicle passing $25,000, it’s easy to fall into the trap of believing you have to spend a small fortune to drive anything worth writing home about. Unless you’re all about impressing your friends, neighbors and co-commuters with the size of your monthly payment, the entry end of the market is filled with a higher concentration of cool cars, trucks and SUVs than ever.

After putting together a list of all the vehicles available for less than $18,000, the editors of Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com then picked the 10 coolest. Instead of reporting based on vehicles’ Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Prices (MSRPs), the list is based on each model’s New Car Blue Book value, the price buyers are typically paying in the market. Your actual payment will be determined by the down payment on the vehicle and the finance rate.

The Top 10 Coolest New Cars Under $18,000

• Toyota Yaris-With a long history as a best-seller in Europe, the Toyota Yaris migrates to the U.S. as the least expensive vehicle in the Toyota lineup. Sporting unusually cool styling, Toyota quality and a 34/city and 40/highway MPG rating, the Yaris’ value more than exceeds its under-$12,000 starting price.

• Scion xB-The xB has proven to us that, these days, it’s cool to be square. Not only does its slab-sided styling set it apart, but its boxy dimensions also mean this diminutive and fuel-efficient vehicle is a surprisingly commodious hauler of people and stuff.

• Dodge Caliber-Caliber changes the small-car game by offering a larger, more flexible interior filled with way-cool features like an air-conditioned storage bin to keep drinks cold, rear speakers that flip down to project outward from the open tailgate, a 110-volt outlet for powering small electronics and a self-charging flashlight.

• Kia Sportage-When buying your first SUV, bang-for-the-buck is a very cool thing to find. Pricing out the Kia Sportage is almost fun when you get to include a sunroof, a great stereo and a tire pressure monitor all for under $16,500.

• Chevrolet HHR-As cool as the 1940s-style exterior is, the Chevrolet HHR is equally cool for its efficient use of space and worthwhile features like remote start and the increasingly requisite iPod connector. It offers hauling ability like a compact SUV, yet it handles like a car.

• Ford Fusion-Size does matter, so getting a well-styled, contemporary midsize sedan with the roominess and comfort of the new Fusion is cool. Even better is the unexpected level of equipment for the price, including remote keyless entry, tilt steering wheel and cruise control.

• Nissan Frontier-Utility is in, and nothing’s more utilitarian than a pickup. The Frontier backs up its sharp styling with excellent ride and handling.

• Mazda3-Available as a hatchback or sedan, the Mazda3 is a deft one-two punch to the compact-car segment. We can’t decide which model we like better, but the combination of fine driving dynamics, upscale interior and arresting looks make this a “cool cars” list repeater.

• Honda Civic-You know how U2 were cool, then in the mid-90s they weren’t so cool, and now they’re as cool as ever? Well, the Civic has traveled a parallel path to regain its stature as arguably the finest economy car ever built–and cool once again.

• Scion tC-If you’re cool enough to appreciate it, the slick styling and fashionable features in the tC deliver Lexus-like technology in an affordable package. This year, the improved audio features stand out, including steering-wheel gauges and iPod connectivity.

Mississauga Corporate Apartments

August 24th, 2010

For many, business travel to different cities or countries is far from an occasional benefit, but rather a lifestyle. Staying in a new hotel every night can grow tiring, even with great amenities and service. Hotel life need not be the only option, however, as a growing trend favors corporate apartments. Mississauga is no exception to this rule, featuring corporate apartments suited to even the most demanding of business travelers with services rivaling those offered by even the greatest hotels. If you’re curious as to the advantages corporate apartments offer beyond that of the competition, read on.

Staying in a good corporate apartment can provide huge savings when compared to staying in a hotel. Typically this can be around 30% cheaper, which when considered over a 7 night stay can really add up. Anyone who regularly needs to use corporate apartments will know this and will typically use them based on these prices, amongst other things.

Corporate apartments should also strive to meet and exceed client needs, particularly if they wish for repeat business. This happens via client contact, and by determining what worked and what didn’t. A corporate apartment that listens to what its clients request is crucial, and these communications should happen on a regular basis to maintain a good relationship.

Quality must also be consistent and remain constant. As such, corporate apartments must strive to be as comfortable and home-like as possible. One means to accomplish this is by providing apartments that are furnished. Mississauga offers a variety of corporate apartments meeting this criteria, providing luxurious furnishings and fixtures that add an extra touch to a corporate traveler’s experience.

Never leaving clients waiting for a service. Corporate apartments should have everything that a business traveler wants, from a place to cook meals to somewhere to do their laundry. Extras such as larger beds, flat screen TVs, DVD players and so on are considered as requirements in a corporate apartment. These are things that you would have to pay extra for in certain hotels. By failing to meet the needs of clients a corporate apartment owner will be putting off potential clients in the future.

Evaluate the competition when considering corporate apartments. Often, insights into what are offered can help to determine what might make service better or, in some instances, which factors may make it worse.

The best corporate apartments follow through, fulfilling their promises and delivering on everything that they advertise. Only by doing this can a corporate apartment be assured of repeat business and a happy, loyal client el.

Understanding and exceding client needs is the most crucial feature of any corporate apartment. Mississauga offerings deliver in this regard, helping anyone who stays in them to feel as if they are in a home away from home, providing all the quality and amenities they have come to expect. Any quality corporate apartment should provide this level of comfort and service if it wishes to be a compelling choice for today’s business traveler.

A Brief History Of The Limo

August 12th, 2010

It’s easy to picture yourself in a gorgeous stretch limo, arriving at your destination in a classy Cadillac or a super stretched Hummer. With all the colors of the rainbow available, those old boring black or white limousines are a thing of the past. Filled with televisions and full liquor bars and even a spa, there isn’t much that a limo can’t provide. Here’s a brief history of the limo to give you an idea of what limo service in Toronto can be like.

People have been using service that require an escort, like a limousine driver, for hundreds of years. From the charioteers of the Roman empire to the simple stage coach type wagons with a driver up front and the passengers in back, the limo has been around for a lot of human history. A driver or Wagon-master was actually the first type of chauffeur. Only the very rich could hire a Wagon-master to carry them from place to place.

An interesting early limousine was sort of a horse-drawn coach. This coach could carry a great number of passengers, similar to a stretch limosine today. Like the limousines at Toronto Limo, these stagecoaches would have side doors to enter and exit through. The driver was seated in front of or above the passengers, just like in today’s limousines. Often another driver, a relief driver or a guard, was seated next to the chauffeur. This was for the safety of the passengers.

One of the first automobile type limousines was built in 1902. It was built so that the driver or chauffeur actually sat outside of the covered area. At the same time, a horse-drawn carriage called a vis-a-vis, had a similar build. The passenger seats in the carriage faced each other and the driver sat above and in front of the passengers. The people riding in the back had access to a folding convertible top, while the driver was left uncovered.

The shape of the limo, including the kind you’ll see when renting a limo in Toronto, has evolved as cars have changed. Most limousines are really just an extended large car. There is a lot of room behind the driver, inside the passenger compartment. There are sometimes “jump seats’ facing toward the back of the car, behind the driver, which can be folded up. A normal limo can carry five to seven passengers in the back compartment, and a super stretch can carry upwards of twelve.

In a standard limousine, there is a barrier separating the driver from the rear compartment. This divider often slides up and down or side to side so that the passengers can speak to the driver. Sometimes there is also an intercom system between the two compartments. It’s interesting to note that the early stagecoaches also had a roof hatch to allow passengers to speak to the driver.

Limo rental in Toronto can include standard limousines that carry five to twelve people, or larger limos that can carry even more. There are some odd types of limos, including the exotic ones like the Bentley or BMW or Jaguar and the odd ones, like the Hummer and the Escalades. Regardless of the type of limo that you choose to rent while in Toronto, it is always fun to have a driver to take you around. Even the VW Beetle has been stretched into a limousine!

Toronto limos can be booked to take you home from a night on the town. You can use one to go to the airport, to save you the parking fees for your car. You can get your friends together and have a wonderful night of drinking and not worry a bit about driving while intoxicated. You can use a limo for any special event, like a wedding or prom or anniversary. With so many fun things to do, it’s easy to see why limos are so popular!

Call a Toronto limo service and impress your date. From front street to bloor street, travel in style with Toronto limos.

What Does Your Home Insurance Cover?

July 31st, 2010

What is covered by your home insurance policy will depend largely on the type and level of insurance that you have opted to take out. There are several different levels of home insurance that cover different types of assets or aspects of your home. To understand what is covered in your home insurance policy, it is helpful to review the different types of home insurance available. Each type of insurance covers specific aspects of your home.

Basic Types of Home Insurance

The most basic level of coverage will insure your home against lightening and fire damage. This is the simplest and often the most affordable type of home insurance policy available. Most people feel that this does not adequately their assets and will generally opt for a slightly higher level of coverage.

The next level of home insurance is known as broad coverage. This covers damage to your home resulting from fire, wind, hail, theft, an explosion, smoke damage from aircraft or vehicles, and glass breakage. It also covers the removal of property from the premises if there is a threat of fire, vandalism, riot or any of the other perils above. A distinct advantage of the broad coverage is that it also covers mechanical or system failures in your home. An example of this would be pipes bursting or freezing over, damage to a heating system, or damage to the roof caused by the weight of snow or ice. This is the one of the most common forms of home insurance as it covers all the major perils and provides protection of your home.

Specialized Types of Home Insurance

If you have a large property, there may be buildings that are not attached to your home. This could be a garage, store room, studio or separate apartment. Make sure that they are specified in your policy so your home is adequately protected. The majority of homeowners seem to opt for a special form of insurance coverage. This type of insurance is a broad level of insurance but has some specific exclusions listed. For example, if you live in Florida, it is unlikely that you will ever need insurance for snow damage so this would be a specific exclusion for that geographic area. What this type of home insurance does is tailor the policy according to your needs. In other words, you will not be paying for insurance coverage that you don’t really need.

If you have a complete household, it is likely that you will want to insure your contents as well as your home structure. This is what is commonly known as tenant insurance. Tenant insurance covers your furniture, clothing and household items against perils such as fire, wind, water, smoke, and snow damage. It is called tenant insurance because many people rent apartments or homes. Their assets are the sum total of their household contents and they want to be able to insure and protect their assets.

If you reside in a complex building and own only one unit in the building, there is a separate insurance policy that it tailored to your needs. In most cases, the building itself will be insured through the building owners’ association for fire, storm and other physical damage. This generally refers to the communal living areas and overall structure of the building. Often the internal walls, pipes and plumbing are not covered very extensively under the general association policy. In this case, condominium owners can take out an additional insurance policy that covers their unit as well as their household contents.

The last form of specialized insurance is for older homes. Most insurance policies will specify that if any damage occurs to the home that the same materials or methods of construction must be used to repair or rebuild the home. In some older homes, this may not be the best long-term solution. If, for example, the home is a wooden home and the floorboards and walls have become infested with termites and insects then it may not be a good idea to repair the home with the same kind of wood. It would be better to use artificial or treated materials that won’t be as susceptible to infestation by insect swarms. Similarly, an old stone house may have areas where the mortar is crumbling and weakening the structure. If the house is more than 100 years old, it is possible that the mortar used is a mixture of mud and stone. A modern-day mixture of cement would be a far more practical manner in which to repair the damaged walls. The older homes insurance allows for more modern and practical materials and methods to be used to repair a home.

Canadian Auto Insurance Policy Made Easy

July 25th, 2010

If you drive in the Canadian provinces, you have to have a Canadian auto insurance policy, or else you will not be legally driving in Canada. You will receive a pink colored card that will show that you have bought insurance in your home province. You need to show this upon request from an authority in a province outside your home. An authority can be a police officer.

You will not be able to, in some provinces, register your vehicle with the department of motor vehicles, until you have insured your car or truck. Some provinces sell insurance through government sponsored programs. But even in provinces with government option, you can buy insurance from a private company. In a government insurance sponsored province you can buy the minimum amount of insurance from the government.

In some Canadian provinces, the government deals with vehicle insurance claims while letting the private insurance people deal with property damage claims. In any event, the provinces require that all private insurance companies outline in a clear and easily understood manner, the type and amount of coverage the company provides. Each province independently decides the minimum amount of liability insurance each vehicle needs to have. Check with your province to learn what minimum amount you need to carry for each of your vehicles.

In some provinces, men and women do not get a separate policy written out. Instead they have on their printed registration form, the type and amount of coverage the vehicle has. In the provinces where government is responsible for covering the vehicles of their citizens, the auto registration is all proof necessary of coverage. If there is add on insurance coverage that is listed on the registration.

You will find that there are some Canadian provinces where if you suffer injury in an auto wreck, you will not be able to sue for above the limit of the uninsured driver policy. In some provinces, if your vehicle has suffered damage because of the fault of another, your insurer compensates you for the loss. You will not deal with the person at fault or his or her insurance company.

The basics of your auto insurance policy remains the same throughout the Canadian provinces. However, you will find some differences that you have to be aware of if you want to drive legally in Canada. You will need to get in touch with your local insurance bureau to find out the proper insurance for you auto.

Many, when give a choice, will pick the private car insurance policy companies over the government sponsored plans. This is primarily because the government plan is administered by a bureaucracy while the private plan is run by working men and women there are interested in profit margin.

There are many people, men and women who like that the government provides an affordable insurance choice and rate when people specially insure their vehicles. Through the government provider, they know at least they are within the government’s law. It’s important contact the local insurance provider for more information.

Self Storage – An Extension Of Your Home

July 23rd, 2010

Who requires storage space? Jim and Cara considered it was not needed. But after their wedding, they learned that they both have personal possessions that would not fit inside their single-room starter house.

Cara possesses several antique pieces of furniture that she inherited from a great grandmother. She would not part with it because she viewed the furniture as a connection with her family. However, the tables and chairs would be too big to fit in their new house.

In the meantime, Jim works as an architect. His projects during college years were more than a dozen scale-model buildings that he designed and created himself. These scale models were his showcase displays in his former apartment. However, after Cara and he were wed and when the couple moved into their new home, the space was a bit cramped that the scale models cannot be exhibited as Jim would prefer.

So now, Jim and Cara face the hurdle of getting along with each other as husband and wife. Both refused to let go of their own belongings. Although the issue of their own stuff has not yet morphed into a full-blown power battle, it has begun to be the root of contention for the two of them.

The newlyweds wanted their marriage to work, and they both vigorously looked for a compromise. So, because they have personal belongings that they care so much about, they reached a compromise: they will rent a personal storage unit so that they could stock all the stuff that were important to them but would not fit in their small home.

Luckily for Cara and Jim, there was a self storage firm near their dwelling. Cara and Jim made their inquiries; they discovered that the rental terms for the self storage facility were very favorable for them. Moreover, the management provided them the most fitting space size that was suitable for their needs.

The newlywed couple was also reassured by what they saw in the storage warehouse complex, state-of-the-art security measures were in place all over the complex. Hence, they were able to sleep soundly, with the knowledge that their personal belongings are cared for by honest security personnel and are being looked over by CCTV cameras.

So, who needs storage? Couples such as Jim and Cara – two people who care about their personal belongings and about their marriage – and all other persons who need the extra space to keep their precious personal belongings that cannot fit into small houses certainly do.

A personal Warehouse might be able to save your relationship. Drop by now and discover the advantages of self storage.
