Big trucks are the heaviest kind of trucks that are allowed on our roads. They are mostly used for long distance trips. As you probably know a truck is a large vehicle used for sending goods from one place to another.
You probably wont know that the word truck is derived from the Greek word “Trochos” meaning “wheel”.
Because trucks are so large and heavy it means that roads get damaged and worn down quickly. In most countries with good roads a truck is allowed to carry 50 thousand kg.
Unfortunately trucks also pollute our atmosphere . A truck is legally heavy duty if it weighs more than 8 and a half thousand pounds.
According to government papers a truck is allowed to send out no more than that of twelve cars. But unfortunately some trucks are emitting a lot more than that.
If you live in the city or the suburb then you probably already know that these are the places where trucks are the most dangerous. Because they are so large and the traffic is so close they are dangerous to people in cars.
Unfortunately a lot of people are frightened when they encounter trucks on the road because over 98% of collisions between cars and trucks end in death for the travellers in the car.
Something else that worries people is that because of air turbulence a truck can pull a car under it’s wheels in seconds or push the car away into on coming traffic.
However even though they can be so dangerous. Commercial truck drivers are trained to an extremely high standard and because of this studies show that they are actually as a whole the safest and most experienced drivers on our roads today.
And statistics also show that accidents involving trucks have gone down over 20% compared to 10 years ago.
